The Cómpeta Cat Project exists to protect and manage Cómpeta’s community cats through humane population control, daily care, veterinary support, education, advocacy and community partnership.
The project will aim to:
Trap, neuter and return stray and feral cats using humane methods.
Work towards testing, vaccination, parasite control, microchipping and veterinary treatment according to a veterinary-led protocol.
Feed managed colonies daily in a clean, organised and responsible way.
Provide appropriate shelter and feeding points where needed.
Rehome kittens, abandoned domestic cats and socialised cats where suitable.
Educate residents about responsible ownership, sterilisation, microchipping, abandonment and Spanish animal welfare law.
Advocate for respectful, lawful treatment of community cats.
Work constructively with the Ayuntamiento, local vets, residents, businesses and volunteers.
